Salt Lake Rescue Mission

Maybe it shouldn't, but it still feels different to see a family at a shelter.

I adore the shot of the baby zipped up under his mother's jacket....and at the same time it breaks my heart to think what they must be going through....

God bless them, alla the people at the shelter, for I know we are under some pretty tuff times; however, there's always hope. What did those two apostles say when seeing the beggar at the city gates? "I have no money, but what I can offer you is life everlasting." Share this with someone --- If the following isn’t too relevant, that’s poifectly understandable; yet, Christ the King is always relevant if thou knowest where thou goest --- Read the signs of the times and know God’s a concrete, coherent reality (check-out ‘Lui et moi’ by Gabriel Bossis, too)! GOD BLESSA YOUSE -Fr. Sarducci, SNL

I found your blog at bloggers, "Blog of Note". I hope you don't mind, but my son is going to go to a homeless shelter tonight with his youngs mens organization. I will be showing him these pictures before they go. It is so moving! The first one brought tears to my eyes.

Hey man, I just saw your blog randomly and decided to check it out.

You've got some really brilliant photography. I liked the use of black and white to illustrate bleakness when you were taking these pictures. Nice job, keep it up.

I've been interested in photography like this for a while, but find it easier to convey my messages in writing.

Great work! Your pictures each tell a story of their own.

The local homeless shelter is exclusively for families. I work closely with the homeless community in my town, especially with the youth and children to make sure their rights are being exercised in the schools. So many babies, children, and teens are in homeless situations of some sort and can't do anything about it.

Thank you for this post.

All excellent, but the baby zipped into the jacket is deeply affeecting. Nice work! Congrats, too, on Blogs of Note.

It feels a bit wrong to say the pictures were fantastic when you take into consideration the subject matter but that word comes to mind. I was deeply moved and hope others are as well.
Congratulations on "Blogs of Note".

My first thought upon seeing the pictures was described perfectly by your caption, it's sadly true.

Congratulations on the "Blog of Note". I've added you as a link on my blog too (hope that's alright). I'm from SLC and your pictures kinda brought me home for a minute. Thanks! The homeless shelter pictures are simply amazing! I secretly want to be a photographer when I grow up. It's a little hobby that I don't know enough about. Thanks for sharing your talent!

An unfortunate sign of the times. That's what shelters are for though, afterall. The needy come in all shapes and sizes.

Amazing shots.

Great pictures! You don't know me, I'm new with this blogger thing.
But I love the first picture... it's so true and so real... there are so many people out there with children that are going through the same thing... The picture brought me to tears. It touched me. I'm planning on going to the Shelter here in my town and give them something for christmas, especially the children.

The world unknown I suppose... as I sit her with my high speed connection, suped up laptop, heat blaring in my own home, with my new car in the driveway.

Thanks for the reality check Mike. I bet not one of those people in your photos here felt they'd be dining at a shelter at some point in their lives.

My gosh, I'm not sure I've ever even had a bad day in my life by comparison.

Thank you for this.

It should feel different. Especially if you have kids.
But it is better to see a family at a shelter than to not see them there, if you see what I mean.

It is enough to make one believe in God...

Even though there in a not so good condition, they still seem happy to be together.

That picture you took of the mom and her baby in her coat is a prize winning photo!

Let me just say... If you were there helping those in need, Jesus our Majestical Lord of Lord's will be there for all in their time of need! Even you!
Gods speed!
